Limited-edition: Natalia Vodianova creates makeup collection with Guerlain

Natalia Vodianova Guerlain

I was pretty pumped to learn that Russian model Natalia Vodianova has created a makeup collection. First of all I think her beauty looks are always stellar – she’s effortless. Second of all: It’s with one of my favourite beauty brands – Guerlain.

Natalia decided to call the collection ‘Shalimar’ in homage to the brand’s fragrance – which she has been the face of for 8 years and counting…

“I am a great romantic and the Shalimar legend that tells the story of the passionate love between Shah Jahan and his beloved wife Princess Mumtaz Mahal has always fascinated me. I wanted to revive the sumptuousness and riches of Imperial India through my collection. This is why I created a gold and blue design reminiscent of Indian jewellery boxes for this Météorites pack. I was also inspired in the choice of the colours by precious metals and stones: gold and sapphire. For the KissKiss lipstick, I chose a warm and intense fuchsia shade like Indian pigments. Rouge G’s deep colour reminds me of the ‘Bindi’, the red dot that Indian women apply between their eyes and that symbolises the universal principle of creation.” – The model explains in the brand’s press kit.

So what’s the verdict…

Well… This might be the most perfect red lipstick. Ever. It’s such a perfect red hue: not too dark, not too orange, not too pinky. It also scores points for being super handy as it comes with its own flip-up mirror. Plus the sparkly blue sapphire-like bead makes it feel pretty fancy too. And the lipstick is filled with wild mango butter and hyaluronic acid spheres, so it’s really hydrating. This will make such a great stocking-filler for any lipstick fan.

Natalia Vodianova Guerlain

I’m a big Guerlain bronzer fan so I was ecstatic to get my hands on the limited-edition ‘Terra India’ shade from this collection. And it’s lush – it’s got a light shimmer and gives a really gorgeous, natural sun-kissed glow. 10/10.

And saving the best to last: The pearly pink illuminator pen. This is the standout piece from the collection for me – and the one thing to purchase if you’re on a one-product budget. It’s so easy to use and adds subtle illumination to your cheekbones, corners of the eye, bridge of the nose and cupid’s bow.

Other pieces in this collection include a pink lipstick, gold eyeliner, light-revealing powder pearls, iridescent body and hair powder, and an eyeshadow duo.

Also: Proceeds from the sales of the Shalimar holiday makeup collection by Natalia Vodianova go to the model’s Naked Heart Foundation charity. Shop, shop, shop! Find out more on the Guerlain website here.
